We’ll meet the new day with a game drive to look for lion, leopard, cheetah, Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk, Somali Ostrich, Grevy's zebra, Grant's Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe Generuk, Greater Kudu, Lesser Kudu, Stripped/Spotted Hyena and whoever else might show up in the dawning light. Following the path of the Ewaso Nyiro River, we’ll be on the lookout for elephant, buffalo, and some of the more entertaining wildlife like dik-dik, warthog and the olive baboon. Samburu is also known as one of the two regions where conservationist Joy Adams raised Elsa the Lioness, later made famous in the book and movie, Born Free. The Samburu people, closely related to the Maasai, an indigenous, pastoral group, who have inhabited this region for eons. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Sarova Shaba Game Lodge.
