Is a privately owned 16 (bed) lodge, within the heart of Samburu National Reserve. Perched on the meandering Ewaso Nyiro River, which offers a plethora of wildlife, fauna, flora and traditional Samburu customs. We take pride in providing you with a genuine African Safari, from start to finish. Managed and run by the traditional Samburu people, with a passion for working with each other to help better the community, within which they were so lovingly raised.

Samburu Elephant Lodge prides itself on working together with these communities to provide a solid and sustainable future. Situated along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro river, comprised of 4 Single villas and 6 Family villas, with more on the way, sits the beautiful Samburu Elephant lodge, aptly named for the beautiful lumbering Elephants that visit the river to quench their thirst and have a play in the river.

Samburu Elephant Lodge, also prides itself on the wonderfully set swimming pool, where you can swim with uninterrupted views of the Ewaso Nyrio River. Our Conference center holds up to 60 people, and can be used for various other functions. Our restaurant prides itself on its light, but plentiful cuisine, with multiple area’s in which for you to dine.

What to Expect

Samburu Game Reserve in northern Kenya offers a truly unique safari experience. Not only is the park home to iconic animals such as elephants, lions, and leopards, but it’s also home to the Samburu Special Five – a quintet of five animals found nowhere else in Kenya; reticulated giraffes, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, besia oryx, and the Grevy’s zebra.

NAIROBI-SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE

Start your Safari from Nairobi Our Driver-guide will pick you from your hotel at 7:00 am or the airport, depart for the semi-arid Samburu Game Reserve. En-route stop briefly at the Equator Crossing point. Arrive Samburu in time for lunch. Relax after lunch and then take an afternoon game drive at 3.30 pm to 6.30 pm. You’ll also have the chance to spot the Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, long-necked red Gerenuk and Grevy’s Zebra – the famous ‘Special Five’. The park is also home to large herds of elephants, as well as lions, leopards, zebras, and more. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Elephant Lodge. Meals: Lunch & Dinner

TWO

FULL DAY EXCURSION IN SAMBURU ELEPHANT LODGE

We’ll meet the new day with a game drive to look for lion, leopard, cheetah, Beisa Oryx, Gerenuk, Somali Ostrich, Grevy's zebra, Grant's Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe Generuk, Greater Kudu, Lesser Kudu, Stripped/Spotted Hyena and whoever else might show up in the dawning light. Following the path of the Ewaso Nyiro River, we’ll be on the lookout for elephant, buffalo, and some of the more entertaining wildlife like dik-dik, warthog and the olive baboon. Samburu is also known as one of the two regions where conservationist Joy Adams raised Elsa the Lioness, later made famous in the book and movie, Born Free. The Samburu people, closely related to the Maasai, an indigenous, pastoral group, who have inhabited this region for eons. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Elephant Lodge Camp. THREE

TRASFER BACK TO NAIROBI

Wake up early for a sunrise game drive through the Samburu Game Reserve. The cooler air and low-light are the ideal time to spot hunters such as lions and leopards on the prowl, and the early morning light is also quite spectacular as it sets fire to the landscape. Then Enroute Nairobi to arrive late in the afternoon in Kenya Capital Nairobi. This Marks the end of your 3 Days 2 Night Samburu Safari Adventure.
