Set in one hundred and fifty acres of grassland studded with Acacia bushes and trees, the resort is not only home to our resident giraffe, waterbuck and both Vervet and Colobus monkeys, but it is also a night stop for the hippos when they leave the lake every night to come and trim the grass on our expansive lawns.

Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort provides accommodation, a restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool, a garden and a terrace. Free WiFi is featured throughout the property.

All units come with a seating area, a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with free toiletries, bidet and shower.

Places to Visit in Naivasha

  1. Hell’s Gate National Park
  • It is located south of Lake Naivasha and was established in 1984.
  • It is known for its beautiful scenery and variety of wildlife.
  • Fischer’s Tower, Central Tower Columns and Hell’s Gate Gorge are features within the national park.
  • Some of the animals that can be found within the park include: African buffalo, zebra, eland, Thompson Gazelle and baboons as well as over 100 species of birds such as vultures.
  • Apart from game drives within the park, visitors can also enjoy other activities such as rock climbing, mountain biking and a visit to the natural spa.
  1. Geothermal Spa
  • It is located inside Hell’s Gate National Park.
  • It is a serene location with beautiful scenery of green vegetation and hills making it suitable for outdoor activities, viewing wildlife such as giraffes, buffaloes and zebras and the steam gathering system.
  • It has three lagoons. The first lagoon is a receiving pond with a temperature of more than 90 degrees celcius, the second lagoon is an overflow from the first lagoon and its temperatures rises upto 50 degrees celcius. This lagoon has both shallow and deep ends.
  • The third lagoon has a temperature of 35 degrees celcius. It can accommodate 400 people who want to enjoy its warm water.
  • Other facilities within the spa include a conference centre for meetings and workshops that can accommodate upto 100 people.
  • In addition, it has a well equipped exhibition hall that can accommodate 50 people. Artifacts and documentaries that describe the history of geothermal development in Kenya and the world are found here which makes it also serve as an educational centre.
  • There is a cafeteria within the spa that offers a wide range of menu selections to choose from based on preference and the budget.
  • A sauna is also found within the spa for both recreational and therapeutic purposes.
  1. Mount Longonot National Park
  • It is located 90 km from Nairobi.
  • The extinct volcano of Mount Longonot is a beautiful attraction as it has a unique feature of a thick forest within the crater. The rim of the crater provides scenic views of the Rift Valley up to Lake Naivasha.
  • There is also variety of wildlife found within the park. These include: buffaloes, elands, lions, leopards, bushbucks, zebras, giraffes and Grant gazelles.
  • Activities that one can engage in include: biking, game viewing, hiking, rock climbing, viewing Lake Naivasha and walking.
